Metro may go all the way upto Bhayander

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has hinted that it may consider extending the proposed Metro-7 corridor up to Bhayander from Dahisar.
“We are examining the possibility of extending the metro connectivity to Mira Road and Bhayandar,” said Pravin Darade, additional metropolitan commissioner, MMRDA.
This would mean the proposed Dahisar-east to Andheri-east Metro-7 corridor would pass through the Western Express Highway (WEH) up to Bhayandar via the Dahisar check naka.
There had been a long time demand by residents of Mira-Bhayandar to extend the Metro corridor from Dahisar up to Bhayandar and similarly, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had also suggested that the proposed Metro-7 corridor could be further extended up to Bhayandar to make it more financially viable and enable maximum rider-ship for the same.
The MMRDA also plans to extend the Metro-7 corridor from Andheri-east to the international airport to ensure connectivity to the proposed Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro-3 corridor. Currently, the MMRDA has sent out proposals to the traffic department to create diversions in time for the work to be taken up on the WEH.
The work on the Metro-7 corridor is slated to start afater monsoons for which the MMRDA also awarded work orders in May 2016.
Further, the MMRDA has also proposed a fare structure starting with Rs 10 and the same increases by Rs 10 every 6 km. So, roughly for plying on say around 20 km in a metro, commuters will have to shell out something between Rs 30 to Rs 40.
