Men rob Andheri family at knifepoint

The police is on the lookout for a gang of robbers who broke into the house of a moneylender and took off with jewellery and cash.

The police is on the lookout for a gang of robbers who broke into the house of a moneylender and took off with jewellery and cash. The incident occurred in Tata colony in Andheri (west) around 3 pm on Monday. The Juhu police which is investigating the case said the burglars attacked the wife of the moneylender.

“His wife was in the house with their two children when the robbers allegedly forced themselves into the house. They threatened them at knife point and tied them to the chairs,” said an officer at the Juhu police station.

The police added that the accused did not wear any masks and took advantage of the afternoon time to attack. “They knew the area well and also that very few people would be outside in the afternoon heat and hence, entered the house around 3 pm,” he said.

The police is now scanning through the CCTV footage in the area to determine the identity of the accused.Police officials suspect the accused to be history sheeters and also that they had prior knowledge about the victim’s income.

“They knew that they would be able to find gold and cash in the complaint’s house and also when he would not be at home. They planned the robbery accordingly,” he said.

The accused made away with gold weighing 2 kg and Rs 1 lakh in cash. They have robbed valuables and cash worth Rs 4 lakh from the house.

“The investigation in going on and we are talking to the neighbour and local shop keepers too,” he said.
