A division bench of the Bombay high court on Wednesday asked a petitioner to approach the chief justice of high court to get assigned an appropriate bench which could expeditiously hear and decide an application filed by the government seeking to secure admission in educational institutes and jobs in government establishments for those who were admitted before the court had granted stay on Maratha reservation.
Former scribe and social activist Ketan Tirodkar on Wednesday mentioned before the division bench headed by Justice Abhay S. Oka petition and requested the court to hear and decide an application filed by the government expeditiously as it affects many people.
He told the bench that the government application has requested the court to allow it to secure admission and jobs of those who were given opportunity under Maratha reservation before the court had granted a stay on reservation. Mr Tirodkar said that the application would affect many people and hence it should be decided at the earliest.
The division bench of high court, however, said that this bench has 10 matters assigned by the Supreme Court of India which are to be heard and decided expeditiously and hence it would be better that petitioner approach the Chief Justice to get assigned appropriate court.
