The Nallasopara police late on Saturday night arrested a 23-year-old youth for allegedly breaking an ATM machine to steal the money inside.
The Nallasopara police late on Saturday night arrested a 23-year-old youth for allegedly breaking an ATM machine to steal the money inside. According to sources, accused Vikas Deepak Sen was caught red-handed when he was breaking the ATM machine of Axis bank, in Don Lane area of Nallasopara east. Officers have booked him under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The officers were patrolling on Saturday late night, to ensure peace during Garba in the area, when they noticed a youth who was trying to get money from an ATM machine that was out of order, said an officer from Tulinj police station. Officers immediately nabbed Sen, and booked him under sections 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking), 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc), 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) and 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees).
The police is now checking if the accused was involved in similar kind of crimes in the past too. Police teams are trying to find out if the accused is a part of any gang as breaking an ATM machine alone is difficult. The police is also checking why no security personnel was deployed at the ATM.
