Man attempts to kill friend over affair

A case has been registered against a 30-year-old man who tried to kill his friend (29) in Tulinj in Nalasopara. The police said the victim’s wife was in a relationship with the accused.

The accused, Pradeep Yadav, who works as an auto driver in Borivali, has been absconding ever since the incident and police is on the lookout for him. Police sources said that the victim, who also works as an auto driver in Borivali, met Yadav in the course of his work in the first half of 2015, and eventually the two became friends. In November 2015, the victim invited Yadav to stay with him and and his wife in Moregaon. During his stay at the victim’s house, Yadav fell in love with his wife and in January, the two of them got into a relationship about which the victim came to know on May 1. “After the victim came to know that his wife was in a relationship with Yadav, he threatened him and his wife but in vain,” said a police official.

Late night on Thursday, Yadav and the victim were having an argument when Yadav brought out a knife from the kitchen and cut the victim’s hand. Later, the victim was sent to Shatabdi Hospital for treatment. The police registered a case of attempt to murder against Yadav, who is at large.
