Apparently, the constable’s shoulder also brushed against the man, who is his neighbour, which angered him. The Khadakpada police has registered a case against the neighbour.
The constable, identified as Uttam Adsul (49), has been working with the Thane commissionerate and has been in the force for the past 28 years. He resides with his family at Yadav Nagar, Mohane in Ambivali (east).
The incident took place around 5.30 pm on Saturday, when the Adsul was walking his pet dog outside his residence. The Khadakpada police said that Adsul had written in his statement that his dog was running and bumped into the accused, Sachin Thorat, and after that his shoulder hit him too. “But after two minutes he came from up from behind and started hitting me with an iron road,” the statement read.
Adsul, who was hit with on his head and rear, had to undergo five stitches on his head.
The Khadakpada police has registered a case against Thorat under Section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code. “We have registered a case on Saturday night and are investigating the matter. Increasing instances of city police facing threats to their life has become a burning issue in the state.
