Man arrested for molesting Bengaluru-based model

The DN Nagar police has arrested a 30-year-old man for molesting a Bengaluru-based 20-year-old model. The accused allegedly lured the model to the city on the pretext of giving her a film role and later molested her.

According to police officials, it had come to light after the arrest that the accused Avinash Pradeep Raut alias JD had molested one more girl in the past.

The police arrested the accused on late Friday evening. He was produced in court and remanded him in police custody.

Raut who hails from Khurdi area of Orissa was living in the city for the past few years. Two months ago, he had met the Bengaluru-based complainant through a social networking site, following which they shared their contact numbers. The complainant was trying her luck in modelling since long, said a police official.

The accused then allegedly asked her to visit Mumbai and promised to give her work in the modelling industry and a film role. Believing him, the complainant reached Mumbai on July 11 and was staying at a Andheri hotel.
