Speaking about his experience in jail, actor Sanjay Dutt said that it has changed him a lot as a person. He also said that it has given him a new perspective towards life. After having spent 42 months at Yerwada jail in Pune, Dutt said that he is going to miss his inmates and jail wardens.
Commenting on Dutt’s farewell, sources from the jail said, “We did not have the permission to give him a formal send-off but we all met him for the last time in the afternoon during lunchtime. We will definitely miss his commentary on radio.”
The actor would play a radio jockey (RJ) and host a show from 11 am to 2 pm for the in-house radio channel called Aap Ki Farmaish. In it Dutt would play songs on the request of the inmates and would also enact popular movie dialogues.
Talking about the show, Dutt said that there was a team of five persons who ran the radio channel and one of the remaining four will take over as the RJ for his show. “ I will miss my teammates Samir, Naren, Sagar and Mota Mama. Together we used to run the radio channel. We enjoyed a lot,” he said.
Elaborating further on his experience as an RJ, Dutt said, “While talking during the show, as a procedure we had to use inspirational quotes. I tried my best to inspire others. I always used to think of my father at that time. That three-hour radio programme has taught me a lot in life. By inspiring others I have made some positive changes in myself as well.”
When asked about his relationship with the people inside the jail, the actor replied, “Jail authority and inmates have treated me well. They are like brothers to me. Their job is to take care of the prisoners and they took care of me. Even though their job is tough they do it wholeheartedly.”
The day before his release was a normal day for the actor in jail. On Wednesday morning, the actor had asked for a needle and thread to stitch his jail uniform, which had a tear.
