It may be some more time before the sunny days are here. Though it has not rained in the city last two days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has not yet declared the withdrawal of monsoon.

According to the department, Mumbai may see slight rains with thunderstorms till October 10. While the maximum temperature would go up to 32 degrees Celsius, the minimum will fall to 23 degrees Celsius.

Kaushal Panchal, a resident of Andheri, said, \"Usually we purchase passes for garba even before the festival starts. The rains have made it difficult for us to enjoy the festival. These two days of no rain have been good and we hope it doesn’t rain now.”

K.S. Hosalikar, deputy director general of IMD, said though it has not rained for the last two days, it was too soon to term it withdrawal of the rains. \"We cannot term it a withdrawal till we have at least five days without rainfall,\" he said.

The temperature-recorded on Saturday was 31.7 and 30.6 degrees Celsius for Santa Cruz and Colaba respectively.

“There are chances of light rains not only in the interior regions but also in Mumbai for the next two days. However, we have seen retreating of monsoon towards southward regions and are expecting it to further retreat in the North Western part too,” said an official from the Regional Meteorological Centre, Mumbai.
