Here & Now

Concerned about the failure to receive any response for a proposed business hub at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Oshiwara, the state government has asked for public suggestions. Intending to decentralise the business district at BKC, the state had planned another business hub at Oshiwara in the western suburbs. It had acquired some land for the business hub at Oshiwara; however, it did not get the desired response from the commercial sector.

The state urban development department has even doubled the Floor Space Index (FSI) in Oshiwara for residential development to 3 and for commercial development to 4 from 1.5 earlier. Citizens can send their suggestions and objections to the urban development department till November 25, so that the government can modify its existing plan to get the response from the commercial sector.

In a notification, the urban development department said, “The authority (MMRDA) vide letter dated May 27, has informed the state government that there is no demand for commercial units in Oshi-wara District Centre in view of aforesaid request, is satisfied that in public interest it is necessary to carry out suitable modification of the said proposal.”
