The Samta Nagar police station has registered an FIR against a family for allegedly misbehaving with and molesting their tenants. The tenants meanwhile are claiming that when they called the police helpline, they were ill-treated.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the landlords allegedly forcefully entered the tenants’ house and molested the women. Further inquiry is on but no arrest has been made so far.

The victim Monika Pathak said, “The incident occurred at about 12.30pm on Wednesday when my landlady Harshada Chandorkar, along with seven to eight women and seven men forcibly entered my house and told me to vacate it. When I told her this was not the way to tell someone to vacate, she started throwing my utensils and other things. My 13-year-old daughter started shooting the video. Sometime in between, two men approached her and started pulling her top and leggings, throwing her out of the house.”

Refuting all claims of not paying rent on time, Ms Pathak expressed shock over Ms Chandorkar’s behaviour. “When these people were misbehaving with me, I called the police helpline 100 many times and also 103 helpline but the operator told me to wait and admonished me for calling again and again,” she said.

When The Asian Age approached DCP Ramkumar, he said no such complaint has been registered by Ms Pathak against any of the police officials whereas an FIR has been registered against her landlords and soon, necessary action will be taken. DCP Ramkumar also assured that if any person approaches him about misbehavior or delay in taking action on the part of any police official, he will take strict action.
