An FIR has been registered against actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui for allegedly pushing a woman who lives in his building in Versova after they got into an ugly brawl over a parking spot on Sunday.
According to the Versova police, the incident occurred 2 pm in the building located in the Yari Road area. A man who lived in the same building was parking his car when private bodyguards of Siddiqui objected and stopped him from doing so. The complainant, a woman, who also lives in the same building intervened after she saw Siddiqui’s bodyguards arguing with the other resident.
She confronted the bodyguards asking them what legal standing they had to ask him not to park his car at the spot. A fracas ensued and Siddiqui and his brother came down to see what was happening. “Siddiqui pushed her away and in the process touched her inappropriately after which she approached us and registered the complaint,” said police inspector Dattatraya Patil of Versova police station.
A FIR under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Siddiqui. He has not been arrested.
The Zohra Aghadi Nagar (J&K) CHS of the building had written a letter to Siddiqui on January 16 this year asking him to immediately vacate a parking space in the premises. The space that Siddiqui was using to park his car was reserved for two wheelers, states the letter. Its goes on to say that Siddiqui was served another letter previously dated 13/09/15 asking him to vacate the parking spot and his brother had acknowledged the letter five days later.
Siddiqui, when contacted, refused to comment on the issue.
