Four feisty girls from K.C. College managed to catch a man who was sending obscene, vulgar messages and handed him over to the DB Marg police. He was sent to police custody till January 27.

The arrested accused identified as Anil Jain (40), is a resident of Goregaon. According to police officials, Mr Jain on January 16 went to KC College in Churchgate and clicked photographs of the noticeboard where some students’ numbers were written along with their names. He then started sending vulgar messages to the girls’ phone numbers. The girls were shocked by the messages and shared their problem with each other. That’s when they came to know that three girls from among them were getting such messages.

“Mr Jain continued sending messages till January 23 and one of the girls hatched a plan to catch him red-handed. She told him she would meet him near Churchgate station on January 24. Mr Jain accepted her invitation and went to meet her. However, instead of Churchgate, he went to Girgaum Chowpatty. The girl called her other friends to Girgaon Chowpatty. Once she made sure that the man was the same who messaged her, she called her friends and they caught him, thrashed him and took him to DB Marg police station,” said a police official from DB Marg police station.

Senior PI, DB Marg Police Station, said, “We arrested him and registered a case under IPC 354 and IT acts. None of his family members have come to meet him. We came to know that he is a resident of Goregoan and working with Suprim Embroidery Pvt Limited. We are interrogating him.”
