Reacting to the Bombay high court verdict that refused grant pre-arrest bail to four municipal corporators, members of builder Suraj Parmar’s family said they are hopeful that the culprits who are responsible for Parmar’s death would be punished. Meanwhile, the four corporators in question have said they will prove their innocence.

Uday Parmar, the brother of the late Suraj Parmar, said, “ We all are hoping that culprits get punished and we have won the first step. All of us in the family are just praying that punishment is given to those who deserve it and not the innocent.”

On the other hand, NCP corporator Najib Mulla, one of the four corporators whose application for pre-arrest bail was turned down by the high court, said, “We didn’t do anything wrong with Parmar at any stage. Opposing his illegal project is the process of our work.”

“We didn’t do anything that was not part of our job. Parmar was a BJP follower and as the ruling party is BJP, those people are unnecessarily harassing us,” Mr Mulla further added.

Vikrant Chavan of the Congress, another of the four corporators in question, said, “I have opposed Parmar’s projects after I found them to be illegal. We are innocent and we will fight until the end.”
