Deonar kingpins’ custody extended

Police custody of the two kingpins arrested on Friday night in connection with the Deonar dumping ground fire case has been extended. Police is trying to get information about the other two goons responsible for the blaze.
The duo, Ateeq Khan and Rafiq Khan from Shivaji Nagar, were arrested late night Friday and remanded to police custody till Monday however the court has extended their custody as they were not cooperating with police officials.
Investigation officer of the case, B. Bhujbal, said, “They are the kingpins of the Deonar dumping ground. More than 30 witnesses have said that these two accused and two others were responsible for the fire. However, as the duo have not given any valid answers about their scrap business and who else is involved, we asked that their custody be extended. The court has extended their custody till April 29.”
Ateeq and Rafiq have been booked under six charges including Section 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection or disease dangerous to life), 285 (negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter), 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage), 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 34 (common intention) of the IPC.
