The special CBI court on Thursday granted permission to the central agency to interrogate Indrani Mukerjea, her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and driver Shyamwar Rai in the sensational murder case of Sheena Bora.

The CBI had made the application seeking to interrogate these three persons for 15 more days, however Khanna’s lawyer Shreyansh Mithare raised objection, saying the court had already given enough opportunity to the agency to interrogate the accused. On this the CBI lawyer told the court this was the last time CBI asking permission to interrogate them in jail.

Indrani’s lawyer Gunjan Mangala did not object to the application, but requested the court to direct the agency to question her client after getting the opinion of doctors from JJ Hospital about her medical condition.

The CBI had informed the court that new facts had emerged during the investigation of this case and, in light of them, it wanted to interrogate the accused further.

The court was informed that the agency wanted to interrogate the accused for 15 more days.

After hearing all the arguments, special judge H.S. Mahajan allowed the CBI’s application. Apart from the three, the CBI also arrested former media baron Peter Mukerjea, Indrani’s husband for his alleged role in the conspiracy to kill Sheena, who was allegedly strangled in a car. Her body was then burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad.
