Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday was seen pitching to draw investments into his state at the on-going Make In India Week in Mumbai and highlighted the untapped 974-km of coastline of the state as future business potential. He also said he wanted to make his state, which is currently at second position, number one in ease of doing business. He also elaborated on the efforts of developing new state capital Amaravati and demanded help from the Centre.
Union Transport minister Nitin Gadkari who was present at the event said he would cooperate with the state on developing infrastructure.
In a summit on Andra Pradesh, Mr Naidu compared talked about the development potential of the state in various sectors. “Despite being a new state, our Global System of Trade Preferences (GSTP) growth is in double digits at 10.5 per cent, while India’s growth is 7.3 per cent. We rank second in ease of doing business, as we give permissions for industries within 21 days through a single-window system and next year we aim to gain number one position,” Mr Naidu said.
Talking about challenges and opportunities before the state after bifurcation, the CM said, “We have taken up the development of the Andhra Pradesh coast line. We have six ports and want to develop six more. Many countries have developed their coastlines four to five times more than their inland transport,” he said.
