Burglar held after giving cops the slip

A woman burglar who would pose as a domestic help and allegedly burgle people’s houses, was arrested by the Oshiwara police late Saturday night. The arrest was made after a day’s chase, when the accused, early on the same day, managed to escape from the premises of the Oshiwara police station having robbed the cleaning lady at the station house.

The accused, identified as Bharti Shinde, is a resident of Nalasopara and had over five cases registered against her at Samata Nagar and Dindoshi police stations. According to the police, Shinde would approach houses in need of a domestic help and in lieu of a nominal fee agree to do the household chores. Once the unsuspecting owners took her in, Shinde would wait for the perfect moment and then escape with ornaments and cash.

On Saturday, the Oshiwara police received a tip that Shinde had secured another job at a residence in the area and accordingly they laid a trap and managed to arrest her. The accused was brought to the police station and put in a holding cell, but managed to trick the cops too. The police again began hunting for Shinde and managed to trace her by Saturday night.
