Bowing before public pressure, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday delegated divisional commissioners powers to stop water supply to breweries in drought-hit areas. The people of Marathwada were demanding that water supply to liquor companies be stopped in view of the acute water shortage in the area.
The CM said, “I have asked for a review to be taken and wherever necessary water supply (to the breweries) to be stopped. All powers have been delegated to divisional commissioners.” The CM had ordered a report from the collectors about the water used by breweries.
