BJP wins over one more ally in sugar heavyweight’s JSSP
The BJP made a major coup as it managed to win over Vinay Kore, a political heavyweight from the sugar belt of Maharashtra, ahead of local civic bodies elections in the state.
The BJP made a major coup as it managed to win over Vinay Kore, a political heavyweight from the sugar belt of Maharashtra, ahead of local civic bodies elections in the state.
Mr Kore’s Jan Surajya Shakti Party (JSSP) will form an alliance with the BJP at the state level. The development will help the ruling party a great deal in the upcoming local body polls, especially in Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur, where JSSP has a strong presence.
The JSSP will be the sixth constituent of BJP-led alliance in the state. Along with other four allies — Raju Shetti’s Swabhimani Shetakari Sanghatana (SSS), Mahadev Jankar’s Rashtriya Samaj Party (RSP), Vinayak Mete’s Shiv Sangram and Ramdas Athawale’s Republican Party of India (RPI).
Senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil, who played a major role in bringing in Mr Kore, said, “Adding Kore and his party in our allies will make BJP powerful in south Maharashtra, including Kolhapur, Sangli and Solapur.”
