Actress Pratyusha Banerjee of Balika Vadhu fame claimed that she was molested by a bunch of men pretending to be policemen on Monday. The actress told the police that on Monday evening almost 10 persons barged into her Kandivali residence and asked for her boyfriend actor Rahul Raj Singh. When the actress told them that he was not at home, they molested her and beat her up, she alleged. An FIR had not been filed in the case at the time of going to press. Earlier, a complaint was filed against the actress and Rahul for manhandling a loan recovery agent.
Speaking to this newspaper, Pratyusha said, “Around eight to ten men, who claimed they were policemen came to my house asking to meet Rahul. When I told them he was not home, they misbehaved with me and manhandled me,” she said.
Rahul had taken a car loan from Kotak Mahindra Bank and had been irregular in its repayment. Hence, he was in touch with loan recovery agent Amit Dalvi. Singh called Dalvi on December 31 and asked him to collect one installment of the loan from him. When Dalvi visited their residence on the same day, he was allegedly beaten up by Singh, after which he filed a complaint to Kandivali police station on January 1. Later, on January 4, he went to their house again, but this time with some plainclothes policemen.
Pratyusha told them that Rahul was out of station. It was later in the same day that the other group of men posing as cops went to the actress’ residence and allegedly manhandled her.
An officer from the Kandivali police station said that some of their men had gone earlier in the day along with Dalvi to recover the loan installment as there was a complaint against Rahul for beating up the agent the last time around. However, the officer confirmed that no policemen were involved in the second visit.
The actress told this newspaper that the pending loan amount had been paid to the agent on December 31. Dalvi, however, maintained that the amount was still pending. The police is currently trying to identify who were the people who visited the actress’ residence the second time around.
