Former Maharashtra advocate general Shreehari Aney has stoked a fresh controversy by cutting his birthday cake that had a map of Maharashtra on it and separated Vidarbha in it. According to reports, the cake was presented to him on his 66th birthday by some lawyer friends practising in the Nagpur high court where the cake was cut. On the cake, all regions of the state including Vidarbha, Konkan, Marathwada and Western Maharashtra were shown in different colours. In a video that has gone viral, it is seen that after blowing out the candles, Mr Aney carefully carves out Vidarbha.

MNS chief Raj Thackeray, who has vehemently opposed the division of the state, said, “Mr Aney will remember this cake forever.”
