Coming down heavily on Maharashtra Advocate General Shrihari Aney, the Shiv Sena observed that by saying that the state machinery has been inept at putting an end to farmers’ suicides, he has made the Maharashtra government seem \"unworthy\" in front of the Bombay high court. The Sena further said that had the Advocate General of any other state made such a statement, the government would have immediately suspended the person.

“Mr Aney had, in the Bombay high court, said that the state machinery has been inept at handling farmers' suicides. He could have informed the court about the number of suicides that had taken place but he went a step further by making the government seem unworthy. If there is an Advocate General like him, who needs enemies ”said the Sena in an editorial in party mouthpiece, Saamana.

The Sena said that Mr Aney has made the government’s stance over Vidarbha and Marathwada seem “hypocritical” and the government cannot take his comments to be personal in nature. “Mr Aney had spoken about

statehood for Vidarbha and then, his comments were construed to be personal in nature. But now, these comments have been made in front of a court, which means he has put forth the government’s stand,” said the editorial.

“If the Advocate General of some other state had made comments against the government, he would have been dismissed immediately. But the people of Vidarbha want to know why he is still representing the government. Never in the history of the country has an Advocate General shown his own government in a poor light,” it said.
