27 per cent students emerge successful in HSC re-exam
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the results of the supplementary exams it had conducted for HSC students in July on Wednesday.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the results of the supplementary exams it had conducted for HSC students in July on Wednesday. While the pass percentage was only 27.03 per cent, the successful students may have to compromise on their choice of colleges as most premier institutions have exhausted their seats in the traditional courses. As a result students may have to take admission in lesser known colleges or opt for distance education.
According to statistics released by the MSBSHSE around 1,21,799 students appeared for the supplementary exam that was held in July. Of these 32,921 were successful taking the pass percentage to 27.03 per cent.
Board officials said that the outcome was better than the previous two years that saw pass percentages of 26.77 in 2014 and 21.59 per cent in 2015.
The Mumbai division of the MSBSHSE which had the highest number of students appearing for the exam at 32,482 had a pass percentage of 21.96 per cent which was the third lowest among the nine divisions.
However, the 7,063 students who passed the exam are now faced with a new problem as most premier city colleges have exhausted seats in their traditional and self financed courses.
To make matters worse, the higher and technical education ministry has not issued any instructions regarding admitting the students due to which the universities are clueless about what to do for these students.
“There are no instructions from the government for admitting these students, however we have extended the pre-admission online registration process till September 2 for the benefit of these students,” said Dr M A Khan, registrar of UM.
Meanwhile, MSBSHSE secretary Mr Krishna Patil said that students desirous of getting their results revaluated or get photocopies of their answer sheets could do so from August 25 to September 9 for revaluation and till September 14 for photocopies.
“There will be no exams in October/November and students who have failed to clear the exams will have to apply for the March/April exams,” said Mr Patil.
