The deceased, Karishma Mane, who worked as a sales girl at Bhoomi Plaza, was on her way to work on Tuesday morning when the incident occurred.
“She stayed at Sai Chawl near Suman Nagar area. She left home at around 9.50 am on Tuesday and was on the Annabhau Sathe Bridge when an unknown person stabbed her in the back and ran away from the place. She collapsed on the spot and later, passers-by informed Nehru Nagar police officials. She was immediately admitted to Sudama Hospital in Kurla. However, during treatment itself, she was declared dead. The body was taken to Sion Hospital for a post-mortem and reports are awaited,” said police.
“We got information in the morning that the post-mortem had been done and are waiting for the reports. We are checking with the family; they have said they don’t suspect anyone. We are not bothering them as they are in a state of shock. At the same time, we are searching for the accused,” police further said.
