At least 15 children sustained injuries on Monday evening, as the slab of an empty Mazgaon godown atop which they were playing collapsed, taking the children down with it. The children, who were rushed to the nearby J.J. Hospital, have been declared to be out of danger.

The incident occurred at about 6.15pm on Monday after which the fire brigade was summoned. Three fire engines, two rescue vans and one ambulance were pressed into rescue operations which took little over an hour to complete.

J.J. Hospital Dean, Dr T. P. Lahane, said, “The kids have undergone a CT scan and MRI. Nine have been admitted to the surgical ward while the rest have been admitted to the orthopaedic ward. We are doing scanning for all of them to detect injuries.\"

Onlooker Nafees Tole said that the BMC did not take cognisance of the dilapidated building as it belonged to the railways.
