Choppy weather hits fishing, boats anchored

The quaint fishing villages including-Uttan, Pali and Chowk and Manori is home to over 800 fishing boats in the region.

A large fleet of fishing boats has been anchored at the local harbour’s as weather conditions have been averse to sailing for two days now.

Mumbai: As heavy rains disrupted rail, road and air traffic in the city throughout Tuesday, rough weather conditions including torrential showers compounded by unusually strong winds have forced local fishermen from the coastal villages around Uttan near Bhayandar to abort their fishing activities.

The quaint fishing villages including-Uttan, Pali and Chowk and Manori is home to over 800 fishing boats in the region.  

A large fleet of fishing boats has been anchored at the local harbour’s as weather conditions have been averse to sailing for two days now.

Hundreds of fishing boats were forced to prematurely wind up their operations mid-way and return to the shores empty handed. “Almost all fishing boats from our region have returned to safety,” said, Bernard D’mello, the working president of the Akhil Maharashtra Machhimar Kruti Samithi.
