Mumbai: The Congress on Thursday demanded that  BJP minister Dilip Kamble be sacked after a cheating case has been registered against him.

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant said that the state cabinet is actually a gang of “40 thieves”.

Following the orders of the Aurangabad court, a case of cheating has been registered at the Aurangabad City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) police station against four people and the minister of state for social justice Mr Kamble.

The case details are that all the accused, including the minister, allegedly demanded Rs 1 crore and 92 lakhs from complainant Vilas Dadarao Chavan (55) for issuing license for a wine shop.

Referring to this particular instance, Mr Sawant said, “A matter of cheating and bribe has been registered against one of the PM’s ministers. Mr Kamble is taking bribes to give liquor licenses. In case of another one of his chowkidars, Poonam Mahajan, her assets were about Rs 12 crores in 2009 and more than Rs 100 crores in the 2014 elections. The entire cabinet is actually a gang of 40 thieves.”

Attempts were made to contact Mr Kamble but he remained unavailable for comment. Madhav Bhandari, the chief spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said, “This case has been registered entirely for political purposes ahead of the elections and the Cong-ress as usual is jumping on to such things.”

Mr Bhandari pointed at the Congress chief and said, “This Congress is led by Rahul Gandhi who is facing serious charges of tax evasion and is roaming around on bail. And people are well aware about the history of the Congress in state and Mr Sawant’s party knows which party is constituted by thieves.”
