Mumbai: Shiv Sena has called the Nationalist Congress Party’s (NCP) Ajit Pawar ‘Gutter Insect’ who just lives on his uncle Sharad Pawar’s fortune. Mr Ajit has slammed Sena over building Ram Mandir temple saying that Uddhav Thackeray failed to build memorial of his father in Mumbai and now he is talking about building a temple. This has irked Sena, which led to ‘editorial attack’ on Mr Pawar.

Saamana wrote a scathing editorial on him. “Ajit Pawar is a gutter insect of Pune politics. He thrives on corruption,” writes Saamana.

Mr Ajit while talking on Sena’s stand on Ram Mandir said, “This person (Uddhav Thackeray) failed to build memorial of his father and now he’s talking about building Ram Temple. How’s that possible?” To this ‘Saamana’ replied, “His uncle (Sharad Pawar) himself suggested to have Balasaheb’s memorial in Mumbai’s Mayor Bung-alow. This person doesn’t even know that. What do you expect from a person who has zero credibility in his own party?”

Sena has also raked up issue of drought and alleged irrigation scam. “Ajit Pawar scammed 70-80 thousand crore in irrigation department. If he would have saved that money, this condition would not have arise and money would have been used for irrigation facilities in state. Now, Ajit is running away from responsibilities and officers of irrigation departments are facing actions,” Saamana writes.

Meanwhile, NCP reacted to Sena’s criticism.  Vidya Chavan, NCP’s MLC called Sena’s writing as mirror of its own culture. “Ajit said nothing wrong. Sena failed to build memorial of Balasaheb, and it is talking about Ram Mandir in Uttar Pradesh. Sena leadership was rattled to know that Ajit has exposed them. That’s why this uncultured editorial has followed,” said Ms Chavan.
