Mumbai; The Pune police on Wednesday filed a charge sheet in court in connection with the murder of O. Rasila Raju, a software engineer, at her office in the Infosys campus on January 29 this year. The police on January 30 arrested Bhaben Saikiya, security guard at the company, in connection with Raju’s murder.

Within three months of the incident, the police on Wednesday filed a 300-page charge sheet at the Pune judicial first magistrate’s court.

Judge A.S. Barulkar is to hear the case where D.N. Alure will be the accused’s lawyer and 110 witnesses and 192 documents will be involved.

On January 29, Raju was brutally murdered by the security guard at her work station in Infosys campus, Hinjewadi phase 1. The 24-year-old software engineer was working alone from the Pune office along with eight teammates who were working out of the Bangalore office. She was alone in the Pune office. At around 6.30, her colleagues realised that she was not responding to their calls or online. Thereafter, Raju’s manager, Abhijit Kothari, who was working out of his home in Pune, called the security guards who immediately went to Raju’s workstation only to find her lying dead from strangulation. Raju was immediately taken to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.

Investigations revealed that Saikiya, 27, the security guard at Infosys who was working on the same floor, strangulated Raju in a fit of rage when she asked him why he was staring at her.
