Stir started against dirty accomodations in college

One of the protesting students, Dr Sunali Chavan (21), told The Asian Age, “We don’t have any other accommodation provided to us.

The students alleged that the dean had threatened that they would fail in their exams if they continued with their agitation.

Mumbai: The students of state-run Podar Ayurvedic Hospital College have started an agitation over the accommodation provided to them. The students have claimed that their accommodation lacks sanitation and while its capacity is 64 students, 136 students have been put up there, even as there is a crying need to upgrade its capacity. They claimed that despite paying their fees, they had been asked to vacate their hostel unceremoniously.

One of the protesting students, Dr Sunali Chavan (21), told The Asian Age, “We don’t have any other accommodation provided to us. We have paid the fees for our accommodation but have been suddenly asked to vacate.”

The students alleged that the dean had threatened that they would fail in their exams if they continued with their agitation. Another student said, “The seats have been increased from 60 to 100 despite existing facilities being able to accommodate only 60 students.” All efforts made by this newspaper to contact the dean, Dr Govind Kati, and director, Ayurved, Maharashtra State, Dr Professor Kuldip Raj Kohli have been unsuccessful.
