Mumbai: Slamming chief minister Devendra Fadnavis over the failure of his ambitious Jalyukt Shivar project, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde demanded an audit report of the Rs 7,500 crore spent on the scheme. NCP leader Ajit Pawar demanded compensation of Rs 50,000 per hectare for farmers.

Mr Munde and Mr Pawar slammed the government over the drought issue. Mr Munde said, this year farmers and the people from almost half of the state are suffering from drought, which is very severe. The Fadnavis government has done publicity of the Jalyukt Shivar scheme and Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared more then 16,000 villages had become drought free, but still half of the state is facing drought. So what happened to the Rs 7,500 crore that was spent on the scheme, asked Mr Munde.  He demanded that the Fadnavis government should give details of the accounts to the people. The Shiv Sena also slammed the government over the drought issue and delay over declaring the drought. Shiv Sena alleged that people are suffering and the government is not heeded their cries.
