Mumbai: While Shiv Sena leaders have been claiming that the next Maharashtra chief minister will be from their party the next, Maharashtra Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday said the Shiv Sena has the “right to dream of bagging the post”.

Mr Patil also said he was not aware of who will be the next chief minister and reiterated that Amit Shah, would decide on the matter.

Some Sena leaders have been claiming that while inking alliance pact for Lok Sabha election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had agreed to rotate the chief minister post.

Replying to a query over whether the Sena was trying to project Aditya Thackeray as the next CM through their Jan Aashirwad Yatra, Mr Patil said, “There is nothing wrong in demanding chief minister’s post and aspiring for the same. But all aspirations can’t turn into reality.”

When asked if it was true that the two parties will share CM’s post , the BJP leader said, “There has been an agreement between the top leaders of both the parties,  but I’m  not aware about it. We will see (post election) what happens in the future.”

The BJP state president said that it was not within his powers to take a call on who will be the chief minister of the state and reiterated that Mr Shah and chief minister Devendra Fandavis will deal with it.

The BJP will take out Maha Janadesh Yatra throughout the state from August 1 in two phases, covering Vidarbha and north Maharashtra in the first phase. The second phase will begin from August 17 and end on the 31. The second phase will cover areas between Aurangabad and Nashik. Mr Patil said that the yatra aims at the elimination of Opposition parties. It will cover a total distance of 4,232 kilometres, across 30 districts of the state.

Mr Patil said the party has sent an invitation to Mr Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration ceremony of the yatra.

The Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray is also holding ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ in the state. Ever since both parties announced their plan to contest the Assembly election in alliance, their leaders have been making statements over the chief minister’s post.
