Mumbai: Congress state president and former chief minister Ashok Chavan targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying “Now the time has come to send Mr Modi and Mr Fadnavis to fry pakodas since they had advised the youth to fry pakodas instead of providing them employment.” He further commented that Mr Modi’s stomach also looked like it was 56 inches indulging in corruption. Mr Chavan was addressing a rally at Chembur in support of the Congress candidate of Mumbai south central, Eknath Gaikwad.

During his speech, he said, “Everyone takes lots of efforts to provide education to their children and Mr Modi is advising the youth to fry pakodas and earn mon-ey.” In his speech, he also commented about the overall performance of the Shiv Sena-BJP government.

“Five years ago, BJP made promises aplenty to come to power. Mr Modi also assured he would provide two crore jobs to people. So, at least 10 crore people should have got jobs till date. On the contrary, due to demonetisation, many people have lost their jobs,” said Mr Chavan.

He also alleged that the Modi-led government played politics with the emotions of people. They came into power using the names of Shivaji Maharaj and Dr Ambedkar but failed to construct the memorial at Indu Mill and the Shivaji smarak in the Arabian Sea.

He also alleged that persons who had burned the copy of the Consti-tution were still free in the BJP regime. He also alleged that the Fadn-avis government had failed to take action against traitors who fir-ed bullets on the effigy of Mahatma Gandhi on the day of his death anniversary. Hence, he appealed to vote Congr-ess and NCP candidates.
