Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Tuesday directed the BMC not to continue with the concretisation of the Sambhaji Raje playground in Mulund until further orders.

The court stayed the work while hearing a petition filed by former MNS MLA, Shishir Shinde, alleging that concretisation of the playground had been started without permission from theĀ  authority.

On its part, the BMC informed the court that the standing committee had granted approval for issuing tenders for this work after which, an assistant municipal commissioner (AMC), had granted permission to carry out the work.

The division bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Riyaz Chagla asked the BMC to inform the court at the next hearing |whether an AMC had the power to grant such
permission.
