Nine arrested in Vijay Mallya IDBI loan default case

CBI said that IDBI officials who have been arrested were instrumental in sanctioning and facilitating the loan disbursement.

Mumbai: The CBI has filed chargesheet and arrested nine people in connection with ‘1300 crore IDBI loan default case, in which businessman Vijay Mallya is the prime accused.

Despite the arrest of 9 out of 11 accused in the case including company Kingfisher Airlines Ltd, the prime accused Vijay Mallya is still absconding. Former chairman of IDBI Yogesh Aggarwal, former CFO of now defunct Kingfisher Airlines A Raghunathan; IDBI executives BK Batra, O V Bundellu, S K V Srinivasan, R S Sridhar and Kingfisher executive Shailesh Borke, A C Shah and Amit Nadkarni were arrested and produced in the court.

CBI said that IDBI officials who have been arrested were instrumental in sanctioning and facilitating the loan disbursement. CBI counsel Bharat Badami told the court accused must be remanded to judicial custody. Following this special judge, H S Mahajan sent all the accused to judicial custody. The court also deferred hearing on the accused filed bail application.
