Mumbai: App-based private cab aggregator Uber called off its four-day old strike after leaders from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, which lent its support to the strike, and a delegation of Uber’s driver partners met the company’s officials and discussed the concerns and issues raised by the group. The strike was withdrawn immediately on Wednesday after completing the meeting with officials. Uber has agreed to few of the demands put forth by the MNS and drivers, sources have revealed.

“We had a meeting with the Uber officials in the presence of police officials at Andheri police station. The company has agreed to take in the blacklisted drivers, but have asked for a 15-day time span to get back on the issue about financial loss faced by the drivers,” said Sanjay Naik, president of the MNS’ transport wing. “We met with a delegation of driver partners and continued to engage with driver partners on a one-on-one basis. We have heard their concerns and taken note of the feedback. We remain committed to serving the city, ensuring driver partners can continue to access stable earning opportunities, while giving riders a convenient option to get around Maharashtra.”

According to a company source, Uber has also agreed to give agreements to drivers in English as well as Marathi.
