Mumbai: The commissioner of police, Thane, Parambir Singh, transferred senior police inspector of Bhoiwada, Bhiwandi Manohar Pawar after he got into an argument with the top cop. Pawar is the same police officer who was once investigated in the alleged marriage of Abu Salem in the train, when he was part of Salem’s escort team. Pawar has been transferred to Controls, considered to be a not so lucrative posting.

During the crime meeting of Thane police that was held on Thursday, Mr Singh asked Pawar about an allegation against him demanding Rs 2 lakh from a private firm owner, which was in his jurisdiction of Bhoiwada police station. Pawar denied the allegations and a heated argument between Singh and him ensued following which he was transferred. Pawar was replaced by Vijay Bhise as the senior police inspector. Bhise was earlier posted as a police inspector at Bazarpeth police station.

Manohar Pawar, was earlier posted with the special branch of Kalyan. He was part of the escort team of gangster Abu Salem who got married to a woman from Mumbra in the train in which he was being escorted. Pawar was interrogated for the same and his statement was attached in the report that was submitted to the high court MCOCA court on May 30, 2014. An inquiry was initiated by Dnyeshwar Fadtare, additional commissioner of police (administration), following an order by the MCOCA court. Manohar Pawar was in the escort team of Abu Salem when the latter was being taken to Delhi. Pawar was unavailable for comment instead of repeated attempt to call him.

Parambir Singh said, “A serious allegation was made against him (Pawar), after which a departmental inquiry has been initiated till then he is transferred to control room.”
