Enforcement Directorate attaches Rs 42-crore assets in bitcoin case

Mumbai: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday attached immovable properties and bank balances worth Rs 42.88 crores in connection with the bitcoin case involving Amit Bhardwaj and his accomplices. The case pertains to Bitcoin Trading ponzi scheme by Variabletech Pvt. Ltd, Singapore.  

Following the investigation, the ED found that Bhardwaj launched the bitcoin ponzi scheme via it’s website www.gainbitcoin.com. Under the said scheme, Bhardwaj and his team of marketing agents lured people by asking them to buy bitcoins out of their investments. In this scheme, Bhardwaj and his marketing agents were able to collect investments worth about 80,000 Bitcoins.
