Another held in fake call centre scam
Reema was wanted since October 2016, but Sagar, arrested in April 2017, did not divulge his sister’s location.
Mumbai: The Thane police arrested Reema Thakkar, the elder sister of Sagar alias Shaggy, the alleged mastermind of the call centre scam, busted in 2016, on Thursday.
According to police sources, Reema’s questioning will be vital as she allegedly handled Sagar's accounts. The scam was busted by the police in October last year after a few call centres were searched in Mira Road, whose employees were found to have been posing as US Internal Revenue Serv-ice (IRS) employees making Americans dep-osit money into fake accounts. Reema, who was in Gujarat, since Oct 2016, surrendered on Thursday. She has been remanded in police custoday till Saturday.
