Mumbai: A war of words has broken out between senior NCP leader and former deputy CM Ajit Pawar and former Shiv Sena MP Shivajirao Adhalrao-Patil over results of the recent Lok Sabha polls.

After Mr Pawar slammed Mr Adhalrao-Patil for his defeat from Shirur constituency, the former MP hit back at Mr Pawar saying that the NCP leader had no right to criticise as he could not get his own son elected from Maval constituency.

“How can Mr Pawar criticise me as he was not able to help his own son win the Lok Sabha polls,” said Mr Adhalrao-Patil on his social media account.

In a scathing attack on Mr Pawar, the former Sena MP said, “My uncle was neither a Union agriculture minister nor a former chief minister. I have made a name in politics on my own. People still respect my word even though I have lost the Lok Sabha polls.”

Mr Adhalrao-Patil was defeated by NCP’s Amol Kolhe from Shirur constituency in the Lok Sabha polls.

Following this, Mr Pawar slammed him saying that he had lost face due to the defeat. Ajit Pawar’s son, Parth Pawar, too, lost from the Maval constituency against Shiv Sena’s Shrirang Barne.

“Mr Pawar seems to have forgotten his words that he will not visit Maval again if Parth loses from there,” Mr Adhalrao-Pawar said.

He added, “Since the past ten years, he has been working only for the party’s decline. In fact, Sharad Pawar had advised Ajit Pawar not to field Parth Pawar from the Maval constituency. But he did not listen to him,”
