Mumbai: A day after announcing the special suburban trains for main line of the Central Railway (CR) and Western Railway (WR), the CR will also operate a special train for four days on harbour line. The CR has already announced not to hold a mega block on all three lines this Sunday owing to Ganesh festival last day also known as Anant Chaturdashi.

Mega block is being undertaken every Sunday to maintain the tracks and signalling system by the CR and WR for smooth operation of the suburban services as well as outstation trains.

A senior officer of WR told The Asian Age, “We are not going to hold a mega block on September 23 owing to Anant Chaturdashi as most of the commuters will be out of their homes to see the Ganesh immersion.”

A CR official said that we have now decided to run midnight suburban special train on Harbour line also from Wednesday to Sunday night to clear the extra rush of passengers. During this period, the CR will run eight suburban special trains from CSMT to Panvel and vice versa.

A CR Public Relation Officer said, “There will be no mega block on main line, harbour line and trans-harbour line on Sunday to facilitate movement of devotees during immersion of Ganpati idols.”
