Thane: Contractor held for raping labourer

Thane: A contractor was arrested for allegedly raping a labourer who worked with him, police said.

Santosh Bangale (31) from Umelman of Vasai who works as a labour contractor, was arrested on Saturday, said police.

He has been charged under Section 376 (rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, said police.

The police said that as the victim worked with the contractor both knew each other.

On March 5, 2017 at about 10 am the accused took the victim in his two-wheeler to Vajreshwari under the pretext of giving her a job. There he took her to a room and raped her, said police.

The accused threatened the victim of killing her husband if she resisted attempts to rape her, said police.
