Mumbai: An advocate has filed a contempt petition aga-inst a Thane collector for allowing vehicles over 15 tonnes to ply on the Versova creek bridge.

The Thane collector is expected to file his reply soon. Sources said that he had allowed heavier vehicles to ply after repairs were affected to it. A division bench of Justices Naresh Patil and G. S. Kulkarni was scheduled to hear the contempt petition in the PIL filed by Jimmy Gonsalves. The bridge had developed cracks in the horizontal girder, making it unsafe for traffic over 15 tonnes.
