An acclaimed Marathi stage artist, Lagoo was known for her beauty and fine acting.

Mumbai: Veteran Marathi and Hindi actor Reema Lagoo died of a cardiac arrest in Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital on Thursday morning at the age of 59.

In a career spanning over four decades, Lagoo had acted in several Bollywood blockbuster movies. An acclaimed Marathi stage artist, Lagoo was known for her beauty and fine acting.

She had excellent command over English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati. The media fondly called her Salman Khan's onscreen mom, since she essayed the role of his mother in several superhit movies.

She died at 3.15 am from cardiac arrest. She was described as being “perfectly fine and had no health issues” at the time of her death.

Prominent Bollywood personalities paid tribute at the late actress's last rites. . "Just heard the shocking and unbelievable news about Reema Lagoo's passing. such a fine talent and gone so young ! Very SAD !!," tweeted Mr Amitabh Bachchan.
