Missing woman found dead on tracks

Mumbai: A 40-year-old housewife reported missing from Thane since Tuesday evening was found dead on the railway tracks near Mulund. The GRP has registered an accidental death case and further investigation is underway.

The deceased identified as Vaishali Jajoo, who stayed at Raheja Gardens, Teen Hath Naka, Thane west, was nowhere to be seen after 8.30 pm on Tuesday. The family lodged a missing persons’ complaint with the local police station. Ms Jajoo was found dead on the tracks near Mulund station Wednesday morning.

Samadhan Pawar, deputy commissioner of police, GRP – central railway (CR), said, “The body was identified and her family was informed about it. The body has been handed over to them and investigation is underway to ascertain what happened.”

A post-mortem was onducted before handing over the body to the family. Officials will record the statements of family members and neighbours.
