Samaritan submits plaint as cops ‘refuse to register FIR’
He was allegedly chided by several GRP officials, for rushing the man to a hospital on his own and not waiting for the police to come to the rescue.
Mumbai: Good Samaritan Shravan Tiwari submitted a complaint letter late on Saturday at Churchgate railway police station as the policemen refused to register an FIR against the two errant policemen who allegedly misbehaved with him on February 10.
As The Asian Age had reported on Saturday that Mr Tiwari was to file an FIR, police officials said that they would conduct an enquiry and following the report will file an FIR.
Mr Tiwari had approached the Churchgate railway police late on Saturday evening to register an FIR, but the police only took a written complaint, saying that they would conduct a departmental inquiry and register an FIR only after its report is submitted. Mr Tiwari told this paper, “A week after the incident when two GRP officials misbehaved with me, I went to the police station to complain against them, but they simply recorded my statement in the matter and said that after due inquiry, appropriate action would be taken.”
“I came forward so that people should not be discouraged to help those in need. This matter came to light because I chose to take a stand. God knows how many such incidents must have taken place,” he added.
Last Saturday, on February 10, Mr Tiwari, was on his way to Goregaon on Saturday night, saw a bleeding man at Charni Road station, and rushed him to the nearest hospital.
