Nagpur: Amid the ruckus in the Legislative Council on Tuesday over there being less number of medical colleges in Marathwada and Vidarbha, medical education minister Girish Mahajan stepped into the well of the house, with the opposition taking exception to his behaviour.
MLC Amarsingh Pandit raised the issue by “calling attention” motion. Mr Mahajan replied that the region-wise quota system had been effective since 1985. With opposition MLCs in no mood to hear him out, the angry minister left his seat and stepped forward into the well. After opposition MLCs raised objection, environment minister Ramdas Kadam took Mr Mahajan back to his seat.
