Trespassing delays Central Railway services

Mumbai: Over 50 Central Railway (CR) services were delayed and 30 local trains were cancelled on Thursday. The passengers complained that the trains were running up to 40 minutes late.

Public Relations Officer of CR, Sunil Udasi said, “Trains were delayed after a trespasser was run over near Dombivali. It took 10-15 minutes to retrieve the  body.” A senior CR official, requesting anonymity, said that Kalva level crossing was opened from 9.12 am to 9.30 am which also led to bunching of suburban services.

Mahesh Kumar, who works as a marketing manager at south Mumbai, said that he was waiting for 10.51 am CSMT-bound train at Ambernath station but the train arrived 20 minutes later. “I had to reach office for a meeting by 12.30 pm but I reached at 12.45 pm at CSMT,” he said. Ranjit Prajapati, who works as an intern for a law firm at Fort, said, a 11.34 am CSMT-bound fast train from Ghatkopar was cancelled without making an announcement.
