Pune: In order to communicate with Maratha youth about reservation, the complexities of its implementation if passed, and next steps in case it is not granted by the state government, the Maratha Kranti Morcha (MKM) will hold the “Savand Yatra” from November 16 to 25 in talukas across districts. The Maratha youth will then go to the Assembly in Mumbai on November 26 whether reservation is granted or not.

MKM coordinators on Thursday in Pune announced about the “Savand Yatra”.

Dhanajay Jadhav, MKM, said, “The state government promised reservation before coming to power but took four years to start working on it. The backward commission has submitted only the report and the state has not announced reservation. Hence, till such time reservation is not announced, we will create awareness among the youth about reservation and other issues.”

“The state had earlier said that reservation would be announced before November 15 but the CM has now postponed the date to November 30. Why can’t it be done during the winter session of the Assembly starting Monday? Why does the government want to wait till November 30?” he asked.

Hanumant Mote, MKM, said, “We will start our ‘Savand Yatra’ from Pune on the morning of November 16 and reach Saswad the next day. The rally will begin from Shivtirtha. It will go Indapur, Daund, Shirur, Narayangaon, Manchar, Rajgurunagar, Chakan, Talegaon and Vadgaon Maval in the next 10 days.

“We will communicate with the local Marathas, explaining to them reservation and the complicated process of its implementation. Besides, we will also explain to them the process for Maratha youth to
avail loans to start businesses, apply for scholarships, apply for hostels and other schemes,” Mr Mote added.

“The same yatras will be held in other districts as well and people from across the state will reach the Assembly in Mumbai by two-wheelers and four-wheelers on November 26.
